Our Breeding Philosophy
Breeding Cotons is both an art and a science—complex yet deeply rewarding. My background in the medical field has instilled in me a passion for research, learning, and continuous improvement, all of which I apply to breeding exceptional Cotons that meet the AKC standard while also making loving family companions.
Health & Genetics
The foundation of a strong, healthy Coton starts with thorough testing. Each of my dogs—Lily, Louis, Alya, Venus, and Karsten—has been screened for all seven known genetic diseases and tested through OFA evaluations (see individual results for details). Ensuring the long-term health of our puppies is my top priority.
Structure & Conformation
Beyond health, I focus on pigment, head shape, topline, tail set, coat texture, and movement. Every detail matters in preserving the integrity and beauty of the Coton breed. Watching how they walk and move provides insight into their overall structure and well-being.
Temperament & Personality
Cotons are known for their loving, clownish personalities, and I am committed to maintaining this signature trait. My male, Louie—fondly nicknamed the “Hula Boy” for his joyful dancing—is a perfect example of the breed’s affectionate nature.
Early Development & Socialization
From birth, I implement early neurological stimulation to ensure our puppies are well-socialized and emotionally balanced. Raised in my home, they receive constant love and attention—my face is always covered in puppy kisses! This early nurturing is key to developing confident, well-adjusted Cotons.

Breeding Cotons takes dedication and years of experience. I am incredibly grateful for the mentorship of Brigitte Jespersen, one of the breed’s most respected breeders. Her lineage, wisdom, and guidance influence every step of my program, ensuring my pedigrees honor the exceptional Cotons that came before them.
Cotons are more than just pets—they bond deeply, learn their owner’s routines, and intuitively understand their needs. It is my joy and privilege to raise these incredible dogs and place them in loving homes.
