About Merci Cotons....
As with many....this all began as a dream. I am a retired RN....that loves caring for my children,my grandchildren,my family,my friends and my furry friends. I love my Cotons just as I love my family. Why....they do everyday life with me 24/7. Each has a unique personality as with humans. Their joy abounds daily. They bail in my lap and lick my face off if I seem quiet to them....they are extremely intuitive to a person’s needs. So why this breed?I had a 13 year old Maltese,Scarlett, that I loved dearly. I knew that I could never replace her so I began searching similar breeds. I was immediately drawn to the known clownish behavior of a Coton de Tulear.
My research began intensely. To say that I have been blessed by fellow Coton breeders and now dear friends is an understatement to the beginning of my journey of love for Lily,Louie,Alya(Pilgee), Venus, and Karsten. One of the greatest champions and breeders of the Coton de Tulear is Brigitte Jespersen. It is with great pride that I can credit Merci Coton’s strength to her vast knowledge and mentoring. Karsten and Brigitte are beautiful blessings in my life.
I began showing AKC conformation with Lily and continued titling each of my Cotons. I am more than proud and thankful for each of my fur babies and my mentors. Every day is one of laughter and learning of this delightful, highly intelligent breed. I once asked...How do these Cotons seem to understand so much? The answer is pure and simple...their one job is to love and serve their family. Therefore, each of my precious puppies deserves only families that will cherish this love. So why the name Merci Coton’s....simply stated it is a huge ‘Thank You’ to the breed that gave me great love and unending happiness! It is a ‘Thank You’ to the many blessings from God of these beautiful fur babies.
Great Breeders and Handlers have given their time and energy into my furthering of my AKC Conformation and handling of my Cotons. Thank you Brooke and A.J. Burlingame....your knowledge,skills and friendship are precious and priceless to myself and my breeding program. You were both extremely instrumental to accomplishing my goals in AKC conformation.
Merci Beaucoup to my beautiful family! My husband,Dan,of 44 years adores and loves each of our Cotons. I’m blessed to have his support daily. My children-Brandan with his wife Brandi, Ryan with his wife Rachel, and Kara with her husband Kevin-are a great foundation of Merci Cotons. My eight grands-Braydan,Brylee,Brystal,Isabelle, Alivia, Ian, Marlowe and Esmae provide love and socializing to the puppies.
Merci Coton’s puppies will come to the best homes as family members. These fur babies will be loved and spoiled. Their health will have been checked and vaccines initiated. I want only the best lives for each of them.
