Philosophy My goal on breeding is easily stated, however very complex. Spending many years in the medical field taught me to how to learn, research and continuously improve on what I do. I breed to make the combination of beautiful show dog to AKC standard and the wonderful family friend(pet). The complexity comes in getting there.
- First, I have and am testing each of my dogs for all 7 known genetic diseases. I am blessed to say -Lily, Louis, Alya, Venus and Karsten are negative for all. I continue with OFA testing on all four. (Please check each Coton to see individual results.). I strive for physical health of our precious babies future Cotons..
- Second, I look at everything from pigment, head-shape, top line to tail set, along with coat texture and quality. How do they walk.... what does the gait show you? All aspects are equally important to our Coton Breed.
- Third, I must have the true Coton personality being bred into my puppies.... Loving and clownish. My male-Louie is the happiest and most loving boy in the world. He was fondly nicknamed the Hula boy because of his dancing.
- Lastly, from the birth of these puppies, I work on early neurological stimulation. Your puppy will be more socialized and well-balanced. This early work is crucial for the long term stability of your Coton. Please note- these babies and my Cotons live in my home.
Everyday my face is completely wet with kisses by them (with a paw on either side of my neck).
This breed watches their owner and learns their owner’s lives. This breed has an intuitive insight to each owner’s needs. Finally, being a great breeder takes years, I am blessed being mentored by one of our Coton’s greatest breeders -Brigitte Jespersen.
Her lineage speaks for itself. She pours knowledge and strength into my every step and decision. Through her breeding and mentorship, my breeding and pedigrees pay homage to those who came before me and understand the complexity of this breed.
